Chris Riess and Amy Hill are a married directing team and were the first duo/first female director ever nominated for the prestigious DGA Commercial Directing Award. The pair met at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and have garnered Effies, Clios and Webby awards for their work in addition to being a part of the New Directors Showcase at Cannes. Their combined abilities have given them the opportunity to work with numerous organizations including The American Heart Association, Human Rights Coalition, Salvation Army, St. Judes, Partnership for a Drug-Free America and many more. Major companies such as Pepsi, Bank of America, Siemens, P&G, USMC and Chase have worked with them to create branded content that is distinguished for its candor and insight. Their work ranges from crucial to comedic but their passion for story-telling is constant. Several of their projects have earned them national attention both on television and social media with their most recent work being nominated for “Youtube Ad of the Year”.
They currently have two other documentaries in the works and a photo project that is nine years in the making. Hula Girl premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and has been shown at many of the premier film festivals around the world. The duo worked on campaigns for the midterm elections in 2018 and their piece about fathers and daughters was acquired by the Ad Council and Fatherhood.org in September of 2018. Thus far over two million ad dollars have been donated to the placement of the the ad that began as a passion project.. They also have the rights to Ron McClarty’s highly acclaimed book “The Memory of Running,” and are writing the screenplay based on the novel.
The directors have two teenage daughters and they live in Santa Monica, CA.
